Recently, some kids have been taken and eaten by a beast of the forest. And that pisses off Alex. It's one thing to kill soldiers, it's another to kill innocent children. He thought, wandering through the forest.
Yet at the same time, he felt proud of himself. "The people need me, and I need a new head for my collection." He said into the open forest, traveling through the woods to find this monster.
It's been a long walk, but the wait was worth it. He approached the cave that held unknown terrors, the dual scimitars light in his hands. The surrounding wildlife was littered with bones and skulls, all through various stages of decomposition. The blue sky illuminating the ground through cracks in the trees. Alex listened hard, straining his ears for the sound of the animals only to hear none.
Entering the cave, all Alex could see was darkness. The unlit cave breathed with an uneven feeling. The warmness radiating out from the darkness was damp and smelled of ancient moss. Walking further, Alex kept a slow pace as to let his eyes adjust. At a threshold deep in the cave, the air stopped being as strong. The moss smell turned into that of rot and decay. Alex was sure that the monster was near. Holding up a sword in one hand, he used the other to light the torch.
The torch blazed to life, illuminating the slimy stone wall. The walls covered in damp moss were scratched and chipped. Alex looked around, taking it all in. Over in the corner, Alex heard the sound of movement. He approached the corner, ready for combat. He trusted the torch forward illuminating the darkness. The figure of a small child sat in the fetal position, eyes looking towards the stranger, terrified.
Alex motioned for the kid to follow, trying to take him out of the cave, not wanting to allow the kid to be in harm’s way while Alex fought the beast. The kid shook his head and closed his eyes. That's when he felt the breathing on the back of his neck.
The large horns poked from out the head of a larger bull. Fire red eyes put of light that illuminated the razor-sharp horns. The fire in its eyes is clear as the ring piercing its nose. The hot breath was heavy, putting out the torch, allowing the steel scales on its back to show the luminous light shining from inside. The broad shoulders were as big as a carriage. Its large hooves grinding impatiently into the stone.
Alex dropped the torch, quickly drawing his sword to fight. Sidestepping to keep their attention away from the child, Alex charged with a piercing shout.
